I was going through all the images I collected off the Internet when I started looking at bridal gowns. I realized how cool it was to look through all the gowns by decade and see how fashions had changed. I thought I'd share some of my fav images. I pulled these from all over the web and didn't keep track of where they came from...so if the images belongs to you...let me know and I'll happily credit you. When I pulled the pics, I had no intention of sharing them...but the collection was to fun not too!
I'm going to do each decade one at a time, and out of order...so this time we'll start with the 1950's. My good friend Suzy got married last Sept and used the 50's at her inspiration...so it seems like a fun place to start.
This is a pic uf Audrey Hepburn in a 50's wedding dress. This is a movie still...not a wedding photo, but it still shows the style of the time really well.
This is Grace Kelly in 1956 at her Royal wedding in Monaco. This is a formal wedding gown that has been copied and duplicated for decades since. Simply stunning.
Last, but not least is Elizabeth Taylor in 50's wedding fashion. I wish I had a photo of the whole dress, but the detail of this shot shows how fantastic the lace is.
Now, here is a pic of the back of my friend Suzy's 50's inspired wedding dress. It fit's her style so well and I couldn't picture her in anything else. Neither Suzy or I are the type that would be happy in the strapless a-line dress that is so popular today. I personally want a more timeless look. I thinky Suzy captures that perfectly and does it with all her own style.
I guess I just don't want to look at my wedding pictures in 20 years and cringe at dated fashion. I know when I look at the Neo-Victorian style dresses from the 80's I get that feeling...
