The Victorian and Edwardian eras were coming to an end with the deaths of Queen Victoria in 1901 and Edward in 1910. With this came great change in fashion. Gone were the days of the Gibson girl and the tight confining corsets. Women started to wear more comfortable and natural waistlines, lighter fabrics, and brighter colors. Hemlines even started to go up, Oh my gosh ankles!!
At the beginning of the decade long line silhouettes were popular and the hobble skirt was all the rage. The hobble got its name due to the fact that it constricted your normal stride and therefore you 'hobbled". During the later half of the decade slightly fuller, tiered and shorter skirts started to become more popular.
One thing that didn't change was a full length veil. It was often adorned with Orange Blossom clusters, many tines at the ears. It was also not uncommon to see matching Orange Blossoms at the waistline of the empire waist dresses.
I think these dresses are breath taking and would look beautiful in a wedding set in a garden.
